One of the world's leading film schools
La Fémis — École nationale supérieure des métiers de l'image et du son — is a French public higher education institution dedicated to the cinematic and audiovisual professions. Founded in 1986 under the umbrella of the French Ministry of Culture, the school is funded by the CNC (Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée) and is a partner of the PSL University consortium.
Each year, around 200 students are trained across seven departments: directing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound, editing, production design and production. The school also offers continuing education programmes for working professionals.
Mission
La Fémis trains the next generation of filmmakers, technicians and producers for the French and international film and audiovisual industries. The teaching philosophy combines artistic exploration, technical mastery and critical thinking, in close partnership with active professionals.
Campus
The main campus is located at 6 rue Francœur, Paris 18ᵉ — a historic site of French cinema, formerly home to the Pathé studios. The school operates large-scale shooting stages, post-production suites, mixing studios and a research library.
